Coke Secrets
Nothing really secret here: just a few ideas. Sounded like a cool title, though. ;>)
When they first started coming out with flavored Coke – cherry, lime, etc., I was disappointed. It was like there was a scent of the flavor there, but not the flavor. Then the other day, I was in the store, and wondered what people do when they have a 12-pack of Coke but it’s all one flavor, and they have guests that would prefer another flavor, or plain.
Well, I’ve been flavoring my Coke for years, with lemon, vanilla, cherry, and whatnot. I just use the extract out of the cupboard. The imitation vanilla from the dollar store works great, BTW, and is non-alcoholic, in case you prefer not to use alcohol. A squeeze from a fresh lemon or a dash of lemon extract also tastes yummy. You may also want to experiment with orange or grapefruit, and of course lime.
I particularly like the orange. It reminds me of either a bowling alley in Farmington Hills or the Livonia Mall Cinema we went to as pre-teens that had a broken pop machine. It was the kind that mixed syrup with carbonated water and dispensed it in a paper cup. This machine gave you an extra squirt of orange no matter what kind of other flavor button you pushed. It was very good!
Y’know that Coke Blak that’s recently appeared? It’s just Coke mixed with coffee. I’ve done that so many times accidentally I recognize the taste. ;>)
As you can tell, we drink a lot of the stuff. This works out well, as we’ve got a lot of points for their Coke Rewards promotion, which IMHO is one of the better of these deals lately. You don’t hafta wait until you’ve got a gazillion points to get something!
I noticed while looking around their site they also have a call for people to submit their Coke stories for a special event next summer. That might also be fun!

I love putting a lemon or lime in my coke! As a kid we would always order vanilla cokes at the diner. Yum.
